The flower girl

A few days before the wedding, Jenna started practicing her big job. She knew that her job was to throw the "flowder pedals" and then Aunt Julie would walk on them. We made several trips back and forth down the hallway at home while she threw flower petals on the carpet. Often times her technique more closely resembled someone spiking a football than the delicate toss of petals. It wasn't an angry technique, just one that started with a wind up high up over her head and the petals pelted her feet. Once she even got halfway down the hall with her little basket and looked at me and asked, "Can I just dump it?"

During rehearsal, she did about the same thing. When she ran out of petals, she simply turned and ran away. You could tell it just seemed like the logical thing for her to do. :)

On the big day, she was priceless. My cousin's wife helped occupy her until it was her time down the aisle. Kelly led her up to the row of chairs and gave her the basket. Jenna stopped there looking at all the people. She never got scared, but you could tell she was confused - these people weren't there the night before. Kelly whispered to her that she didn't have to throw petals, she could just walk. Kelly said that it was almost like she had to choose between two tasks- either get down the aisle or throw the petals. After Kelly said this, Jenna simply bent over and put her basket on the ground and with a big smile, ran up the aisle. She found Daddy up front and he held her until his best man duties required his attention. She then sat by Grandma and Papa and enjoyed M&M's.

Not a single flower petal was thrown. I couldn't have been more proud of my little flower girl.

She was perfect! I can't wait to see the video, I hope that entrance got caught on film. That was the only bad thing about being the bride, I couldn't see all of that!
