Counting with Parker

Occasionally Jenna likes to try to exert her authority over Parker Bear. If Parker does something that Jenna finds troubling, Jenna will scowl and scold her sternly. Often times the troubling act is something sinister like breathing, eating, or walking.

It should also be noted that we use German commands with Parker. We do this for the obvious reason that it just sounds cool. Besides, we were all used to using them when Uncle Scott had his dog, Gryphon. We use nein (pronounced nine) for no, platz for lay down and aus for give.

Last week, Jenna and I were standing at the patio door waiting for Parker to finish her outdoor duties. Jenna looked up and me and scowled, then looked outside at Parker peeing and yelled:

"Parker, NEIN!!!"

Parker looked at me. If a dog can look puzzled, she did.

Then with equal disdain, Jenna continued her yelling:

"TEN!!!!"

"EWEVEN!!"

"TWELF!!"

"FIRFTEEN!!!"

"FITEEN!!!"

Oh my gosh, that is just so adorable. Poor Parker though, is she afraid to "do her outside duty" now if she gets yelled at to not do it?? :) The funny thing too is that we don't use the german commands for Toby, even though Scott did for Gryphon. Maybe Gryphon was smarter than Toby!
