Ever stop to think how complicated language and cultural expression is? Now try to explain it to someone who is three. Thanks to "family hour" prime time, network tv, Jenna now can say "Damnit!" and "What the hell?" in context. You'd think I strapped her down and made her watch Cinemax...nope, normal good ol' fashioned network television. Swearing is everywhere now, something I never paid attention to until having a child. Did you know that the word 'hell' is said at least twice in Jenna's favorite Disney movie, Cars? As she is learning and modeling what she learns at record speed, its difficult to keep up and explain the complexities of things that 'aren't nice to say' and things that 'only grown ups say'. "Oh my God" isn't okay; "oh my gosh" is. How is she supposed to get that?
Tonight's whispered question is a thoughtful one. After all, how do you know if you don't ask:
"Mommy, can I say 'for crying out loud'?"

Uncle Scott says "for cryin' out loud" too, so they make a good pair :)
So cute and soooo intelligent! Takes after her Mother, does she? You are going to have your hands full soon!
